Quadratic Diffusor
A quadratic diffusor is an acoustic treatment device that uses a series of wells or grooves, based on a mathematical sequence, to scatter sound waves in multiple directions. This helps reduce echoes and standing waves while preserving the natural energy of the sound in a room.
Helmholtz Absorber
A Helmholtz absorber is a tuned acoustic device designed to target and reduce specific low-frequency sound waves. It works by using a resonant cavity and a small opening to absorb bass energy, helping control boomy or muddy areas in a room.

Our acoustic calculators - both the Quadratic Diffusor and Helmholtz Absorber tools - were recently put to use for the first time at Russian Recording, a top-tier studio located in the vibrant heart of downtown Bloomington, IN, owned and operated by our longtime friend, Mike Bridavsky.
Designing effective acoustic treatments like diffusers and absorbers is key to creating great-sounding spaces, but the process is often buried under complex formulas or expensive software. By making these tools free and accessible, we hope to give more people the power to shape their environments with confidence and clarity.
